New Wave Federation schools are organised in such a way as to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum.
Our schools are committed to offering our children a healthy start to the school day by inviting them to attend a Breakfast Club from 8.00am each day. Places in our Breakfast Club can be arranged through the main school office.
Under usual circumstances, in each of our three schools the school day officially begins at 8.55am when all children meet their teacher and additional adults who support them with their learning. To accommodate Covid-19 restrictions the school day begins at 8.45am or 8.55am, depending on the year group.
In New Wave Federation schools, the mornings are given to Mathematics and English. Depending on the year group, the order in which these are taught may vary.
In addition, each day an assembly is held at either 10.00am or 10.20am. The children remain within their year group bubble to watch a live assembly on their board. The assemblies provide the children updates on about current events, a space to celebrate activities within the school community and to share and read stories with school leaders. Each assembly concludes with an act of collective reflection and contemplation.
All of our KS1 and KS2 children have a fifteen minute break from at either 10.00am or 10.20am.
EYFS have a break for lunch from 11.45pm through to 1.00pm whilst KS1 children eat between 12.00pm and 1.00pm. KS2 lunch is staggered between 11.45am and 1.40pm. Play time and lunchtime staff are trained to support children’s play. There are a wide range of activities for children to enjoy, such as skipping, reading, drawing, sports and table tennis.
In New Wave Federation schools, our afternoons are filled with learning based on the current topic. Subjects taught within these topics include Science, Writing, Geography, History and Art. In addition to these, the children are also taught Design Technology, Spanish, Computer Science and Technology, Physical Education and Music.
