Introduction to the school
Shacklewell is a primary school for children aged 5 to 11 and is maintained by the London Borough of Hackney. In addition to this we have two nursery classes offering full and part-time education for children aged 3 to 4.
We are fortunate in having a wide cultural and ethnic diversity within our community. We believe strongly that this enhances the learning opportunities for everyone.
We very much hope you will enjoy your time with us and that you will become closely involved in your child's education and development..
All learners at Shacklewell are entitled to the best possible education. This learning community continually strive to provide a broad and creative and stimulating learning climate. Our ethos is inclusive and affirms the diversity of culture, race, language and belief - that is our strength. We have high expectations for each and every learner and a commitment to continuous improvement in partnerships with parents, carers, guardians and other members of our community.
As a school for the 21st Century, we recognise the opportunities and challenges that spectacular technology, increasingly sophisticated sciences and urgent global issues offer learners. We aim to meet those challenges and engage all learners in their own learning to develop "the pupil voice" and nature that love of learning that will sustain future generations.
